About Me

“Religion to me is simply the conviction that all human beings must hold some belief in a power greater than themselves, and that whatever their religious belief may be, it must move them to live better in this world and to approach whatever the future holds with serenity.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

When I was growing up, home was where the Navy sent us.  While comfortable on both coasts, I’ve spent the majority of my life in the mid-Atlantic region, including my college years spent at the College of William & Mary.  I currently call the southeast corner of Pennsylvania home.

I have a great story about when I was called to work in the church, a sometimes-I-still-can’t-believe-it Holy Spirit kind of moment.  It’s a calling that I hold gently but with conviction.  I realized from the beginning that I was setting out to build a career in an institution that was and is going through a major transition.  I earned a Master degree in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary to get me started on this path.  I’m excited about being part of a generation of church leaders who work to bring about a new thing.

“I believe the United States (and not only the United States) is caught up in the throes of a spiritual awakening, a period of sustained religious and political transformation during which our ways of seeing the world, understanding ourselves, and expressing faith are being, to borrow a phrase, ‘born again.’”

– Diana Butler Bass, Christianity After Religion

My strengths include public speaking, writing, leading discussions, and figuring out how to translate Biblical or theological ideas into a message that kids can understand.  I don’t “dumb” concepts down but work to peel back layers until we get to the simple heart of a matter.

I’m married to my college sweetheart and we have two amazing sons.

Fun stuff:

I’m an Enneagram 1.

Danny Rojas thinks futbol is life but I say yoga is life.

My anniversary is 7/7 but we didn’t do that on purpose.

My middle name came from both my grandmothers.

I receive great joy from great food.

I try to read about 70 books a year and am a sucker for the rom com genre in books, TV and movies.

Don’t ask me to choose between mountains and oceans – they both are glorious and feed my soul.
